Jets Cornerback, Darrelle Revis, returned to OTA's after holding out due to contract issues. Revis has been looking for a new contract for a while now. He is disappointed he will only be making 1 Million this next year of his rookie contract. Revis wants to be the highest paid player, and rightfully so.

Revis was by far the best Cornerback in the NFL. Noboddy could get passed "Revis Island". Revis shut down every Wide Out he faced, including some of the best in the League. Notable guys are Andre Johnson, Roddy White, Reggie Wayne, and many other #1 Wide Receivers in the National Football League. Although Revis fell short of Defensive Player of the Year to Cornerback, Charles Woodson, many say he should have gotten the award and was by far the best Cornerback in the League. Rex Ryan always has many things to say about that issue.

Revis for "now" is back with the New York Jets. But he has made it clear he is not happy about the way the Jets have handled his contract situation. They know they will make him the highest paid Cornerback in the League, but when? Darrelle certaintley deserves it and everybody knows that.

When will the Jets give Darrelle Revis a new contract? Very Soon. According to our special sources, the Jets are currentley in talks with Darrelle. It could come as soon as the end of the week. Soon, Revis will be signed to a long term contract. Revis is the #1 guy we need to get re-signed. Don't worry Jets fans, Darrelle Revis will be signed, very soon.

Along with Darrelle Revis, there are other key Jets awaiting a long term contract. First, Nick Mangold is. Mangold is one of the best Centers or the best in the NFL right now. He has expressed that he may hold out come training camp if he does not get a new long term deal. Although, the New York Jets are also working on a new contract with Mangold. Other guys wanting a new long term deal are Linebacker, David Harris, and Offensive Lineman, D'Brickishaw Ferguson.

The New York Jets are expected to sign all of these key guys. Soon, Revis, Mangold, Harris, and D"Brick, will have new contracts. We Jets fans should not be worried. These deals will get done, very soon.

Gannon & Sanchez Talk

Mark Sanchez has been studying film with a former MVP NFL Quarterback, Rich Gannon. This is a very good thing for Sanchez. He gets to learn from a quality, successfull Quarterback lately. Sanchez gets to learn and get usefull tips from Rich Gannon. Here is the Full Story from ESPN:

Mark Sanchez is still recovering from offseason knee surgery but hopes to be ready for minicamp in June. The New York Jets quarterback is also working on the mental side of his game by reaching out to a former NFL MVP.

Rich Gannon, the NFL's MVP in 2002 for the Oakland Raiders, worked with Sanchez for two days recently, studying film at the Jets' complex in Florham Park, N.J.

"The great thing about Mark is he doesn't just want to be good; he wants to be great," Gannon told USA Today. "And he's willing to put in the work to get there.

"He has a very bright future."

Although Sanchez helped the Jets reach the AFC Championship Game in his rookie season, he endured an up-and-down year in which he threw an AFC-worst 20 interceptions, was sacked 26 times and fumbled 10 times.

Gannon, who is now an analyst with CBS and Sirius NFL radio, told the newspaper that he and Sanchez talked about making the right decisions on third down and in the fourth quarter.

"We watched the interception and sack reels until 8 o'clock at night," Gannon told USA Today. "Then he had to get treatment the next morning. I was up at 6 and in at 7 watching the film with him.

"I really applaud a guy like that who wants to get better."

Gannon told the newspaper that he was impressed by Sanchez's progress in his recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery in February.

Sanchez had the patella-stabilizing ligament in his left knee repaired in February, and he has participated in individual and passing drills since organized team activities began last month.

"This kid is back already throwing and is much further along than I thought he would be," Gannon told USA Today. "The goal is to have him back almost 100 percent by June 14 minicamp. He's throwing the ball particularly well, even though he told me he's not 100 percent yet with that knee.

"I don't think it's going to be an issue."

Last Chance For Gholston?

It seems as if when the Jets moved Vernon Gholston to Defensive End this year, they are making it clear that this is his last shot. Gholston looked great in college and at the combine, but has been a complete bust ever since the Jets drafted him with the 1st round pick a few years ago. According to sources, there are many that think and say this will be Vernon's last year if again he is a disappointment. Here is a story from ESPN New York-

Some might call it a Hail Mary, a last-ditch, desperation move to hold off an embarrassing defeat. Vernon Gholston calls it the right opportunity at the right time.

The New York Jets' former first-round pick is learning to play defensive end after two washout seasons at outside linebacker. No one in the organization can say with certainty if the position change will transform Gholston into the player he was supposed to be, but it seems to have made a positive impact on his attitude.

Always known for his laid-back demeanor, which some teammates perceived as disinterest, Gholston finally is showing some bravado. He's still not in the Rex Ryan category -- is anybody? -- but at least he's revealing a fiery side. OK, maybe not fiery, but there's something smoldering inside him.

Gholston always seemed to be running behind as an outside linebacker."Personally, I'm going to take more ownership and play more reckless," Gholston said during a break at the Jets' offseason practices. "My first two years, at 'backer, I was worried about doing the right thing. This year, it's going to be about making plays. I'll play within the defense, but I want to be a playmaker.

"They brought me in here to be a playmaker ... and that's what I need to do."

To be a playmaker, Gholston has to start by making a play -- a single play. In 29 career games, he has yet to record a sack, a rather indicting statistic for someone who was drafted sixth overall to sack the quarterback. He received a big chance last season, starting the first four games when Calvin Pace was serving a four-game suspension, but he was eventually phased out of the defensive rotation after Pace's return.

Instead of cutting Gholston and paying off the remainder of his guaranteed money (his five-year contract includes $21 million in guarantees), ensuring his place among the franchise's biggest draft busts, Ryan decided to move him to defensive end. When the Jets signed free-agent outside linebacker Jason Taylor in April, it clinched the deal:

"It's almost like another start for me," said Gholston, who, to this point in his career, has replaced former Philadelphia Eagles bust Mike Mamula as the poster boy for overdrafted workout wonders. "Once I get solid at the position and know what I'm doing, I can play fast and reckless. I want to make things happen."

From all indications, Gholston is adapting well in the noncontact practices, working as Shaun Ellis' backup at right end. There will be a transition period because, even though Gholston played end at Ohio State, this is a different kind of defensive end.

In Ohio State's 4-3 scheme, Gholston played outside the tackle, a pass-rushing position that required speed. In the Jets' hybrid 3-4, he no longer will be an edge player; he'll be inside, slugging it out in the trenches against bigger offensive linemen. Even if he adds 10 pounds to his sculpted, 260-pound frame, his goal by training camp, Gholston will be undersized in a land filled with XXLs. Ryan believes Gholston will compensate with his speed and quickness. ("Right up my alley," Gholston said.)

Funny, but his top attribute, according to his teammates, is his strength, not speed and quickness.

"He's very strong," said left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who blocks Gholston in practice. "That's something you feel in the trenches, and now you're seeing him down after down. I think he'll be a good fit at end."

At outside linebacker, a complex position in Ryan's system, Gholston never mastered the various responsibilities. Now he'll get to bang heads with the big boys as part of the defensive-line rotation, but don't expect big numbers. In Ryan's system, the linemen set the table for the linebackers. In four years as the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator and one as the Jets' head coach, he's had only one lineman reach double-digit sacks (Trevor Pryce, 13, 2006).

Unlike a year ago, when Ryan overhyped Gholston, the Jets aren't expecting big things. At this point, they'd settle for something. Anything.

"I'm not going to say anything because last year I kept saying, 'You guys just wait, he's going to prove it to you,'" Ryan said. "I'm not going to say anything to you about Vernon because I don't want to [jinx] him.

"But he's really doing well."

John Conner Signed

One rookie down, three more to go. The Jets have just signed 5th round pick, FB, John Conner to 4 years, 1.99 million dollars with incentives up to 2.5 million. Clearly, the man has been looking very impressive so far in camp and OTA's. Rex and other team officals have talked very highley of him. He the the future answer at Fullback. Tony Richardson has decided to stay around another year and possibly another one next year. T-Rich has been great and will continue to be, but has worded it clear that only a few years remain in his excellent National Football League carear. Once Tony Richardson steps out, John Conner is the new guy in there for many years to come. Teamates are very excited about this guy coming to the Jets. John was a "steal" in the 5th round.
Here is more from newyorkjets.com -

The New York Jets have signed fullback John Conner, their fifth-round draft choice. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Conner (5'11", 246) was selected 139th overall by the Jets out of Kentucky in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played in a school-record 53 games and earned 27 starts during his five seasons. Primarily a lead blocker, Conner finished his collegiate career with 247 yards and four touchdowns on 54 carries and 193 yards and four touchdowns on 25 receptions. He was granted a medical hardship as a freshman in 2005 after sustaining a season-ending injury.

Revis Holding Out?

Today, June 3, the Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis was not present at OTA's. The Jets Stream reported he was unhappy about his contract situation, which mostly everybody knew. What the common Jets fan did not know is that the Jets management tried to "low ball" Darrelle, offering him a joke of a contract. Revis was supposibly very upset and "furious" about the offer the Jets gave him. I mean can you blame him? He is arguably the leagues best defensive player at only 24 years old and has the potential to be the greatest cornerback of all time. Why not pay the man? This all comes as an even bigger surprise because the Jets have been in situations like this before with players such as Pete Kendall, Washington, Coles, Faneca, etc. They just refuse to learn that insulting players with "jokes" of contracts does not sit well with the players themselves. Come on Jets, knock some sense into yourself and pay the man.

Kicker Clint Stitser Released

As expected, Clint Stitser had very little to no chance of making the New York Jets football team. He was terrible. Therefore, the Jets have just released the Kicker this week. Clint could not connect on field goals and even compete with the Jets other Kicker, Nick Folk. Though, as expected the Jets will be bringing in another Kicker to compete with Nick Folk. They will continue to do this until the regular season, when they know who there kicker will be for the 2010 NFL Season.
Here is more on Kicker, Clint Stitser-

The New York Jets have released journeyman kicker Clint Stitser, the team announced.

Stitser was recently signed to a contract to compete with Nick Folk, but struggled during practices.

"That young man [Stitser], I don’t think he’s ready right now," Jets coach Rex Ryan told reporters. "Will he be ready in the future? Maybe so, but right now I don’t think he’s ready. We’ll probably move on."

And so they have.

Folk has had some rough moments in practice sessions, too.

"I feel a little better today than I did the other day," Ryan said. "He made all his kicks and I feel a little better about that."

Super Bowl XLVIII To Be Played in New Jersey!

The time has come. New York/New Jersey get a Super Bowl. The 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII will be played at the New Meadowlands. This is a great thing for the state of New York and New Jersey, especially for the new, spectacular, Meadowlands Stadium home of the New York Jets and New York Giants! Here is the Full Story from NFL.com-

IRVING, Texas -- Check the antifreeze, grab the mittens, make sure the airport's not snowed in.

We're going to the Super Bowl.

In New Jersey!

NFL owners voted Tuesday to put the 48th Super Bowl in the new $1.6 billion Meadowlands Stadium that this season will become home to the New York Jets and New York Giants. It's the first time the league has gone to a cold weather site that doesn't have a dome and, until now, those places couldn't even bid on the big game.

The league made an exception for the New York area, and New York only. But just a few years ago, the NHL experimented with an outdoor game on New Year's Day, and it was such a success that teams now fight to host what's become an annual event.

"We believe the owners have the faith in us that 3½ years from now we'll put on a remarkable event," Giants co-owner Jonathan Tisch said on the NFL Network. "The greatest game in the world will be played on the greatest stage in the world."

For all the hoopla on putting the Super Bowl in the nation's prime media market, it wasn't a slamdunk. It took four votes by NFL owners to pick New Jersey over two Florida cities, Miami and Tampa. Miami was eliminated after the second ballot.

If the NFL decides to wait and see how this foray into the great outdoors in winter goes, it could be until about 2019 or 2020 to try again because it takes a year or two to put together a bid for a game that's another four years away.

The slogan for New York's bid is "Make Some History." The first piece likely to be made is a record-low temperature at kickoff. The current record is 39 degrees in 1972 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, and that would be considered a warm February day in East Rutherford, N.J.

There's never been snow in a Super Bowl game and that could happen, too.

The average temperature range for the Meadowlands area during February is 24 to 40 degrees, with several inches of rain, according to the bid documents. Remember, the game kicks off after sunset in the Eastern time zone, so temperatures would be dropping throughout the night.

Planners have factored it all in. They're plotting giveaways to warm hands and seats, having hundreds of folks ready to shovel away snow and anything else they can do to make the experience more than just bearable.

2010 Season Predictions

Baltimore Ravens 13-- New York Jets 24

New England Patriots 10 --New York Jets 30

Miami Dolphins 20-- New York Jets 17

Buffalo Bills 6-- New York Jets 23

Minnesota Vikings 17-- New York Jets 21

Denver Broncos 9-- New York Jets 27

Bye Week

Green Bay Packers 16-- New York Jets 10

Detroit Lions 16-- New York Jets 26

Cleveland Browns 7-- New York Jets 20

Houston Texans 14-- New York Jets 28

Cincinnati Bengals 10-- New York Jets 21

New England Patriots 17-- New York Jets 31

Miami Dolphins 20-- New York Jets 21

Pittsburgh Steelers 17- New York Jets 14

Chicago Bears 3-- New York Jets 24

Buffalo Bills 13-- New York Jets 27

I have the Jets going 13-3 this year as you can see. The games they lose are to Miami on the road on SNF, the packers at home which is the only home loss i predict (i believe green bay is the best team in the NFL this year), and lastly, on the road against the Steelers when Santonio Holmes goes back "home". As long as everybody is healthy and everything stays in place, this 13-3 scenario could very much become a reality. P.S. I tried to be as realistic as possible...

thanks

Sanchez Attends White House Dinner

Mark Sanchez, D'Brickishaw Ferguson, and Rex Ryan visited the White House and Predident Obama. It seems as if they wanted to meet him first before they actually do when they win the Super Bowl! From NFL.com-

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Mark Sanchez expects a return visit to the White House. And next time, he's bringing the rest of his New York Jets teammates.

The second-year Jets quarterback was back at practice on a limited basis Thursday, one day after meeting President Barack Obama in Washington D.C. Sanchez attended the state dinner Wednesday night with teammate D'Brickashaw Ferguson.

The state dinner was the first hosted by President Obama and his wife, Michelle, since November, and it was held in honor of Mexico President Felipe Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala.

"This is numero uno," Ferguson said when asked where the dinner ranked among his experiences. "You meet one of the most powerful men in the world, and it humbles you."

Sanchez said he kept the menu and nametag from the dinner, as did Ferguson. The Jets quarterback, who's of Mexican descent, also was surprised when he walked through the welcome line and Mexico's First Lady approached him.

"She had a Sanchez jersey and pulled it out of her purse," Sanchez said, laughing. "It was pretty funny. Everyone was taken aback and was like, 'Wow.' It was pretty special."

Sanchez said he was razzed by some of his other offensive linemen after picking Ferguson, his left tackle, to accompany him.

"I figured Obama, Calderon, Brick, Sanchez -- a Mexican, a black guy," Sanchez said with a big grin. "No, I'm just kidding. I know Brick's into politics. He looks like a governor or something. It just felt right to take a teammate and someone who'd be interested. He was definitely that, and he had a great time."

Right tackle Damien Woody jokingly said the rest of his linemates were jealous of Ferguson.

"Yeah, now we really know what he thinks of his right tackle right now," Woody said of Sanchez. "He took his left tackle and jetted down there. Nah, it's great, man. It's like a once-in-a-lifetime type of deal."

"He didn't let any of the guys know that this was going to happen," Woody said. "So, we were kind of giving him a little stuff, like, 'Hey, you didn't share this with your comrades?' Maybe it was a national security deal."

Back on the field after arriving back home around 3 a.m., Sanchez looked comfortable throwing in 7-on-7 drills. It's the third consecutive practice he has participated in since Monday, when organized team activities began.

Sanchez also participated in individual drills, but he wasn't part of team drills. The Jets are easing Sanchez back onto the field after he had surgery in February to repair the patella-stabilizing ligament in his left knee.

"I feel really good," Sanchez said. "The most important thing in our rehab is doing the same moves, like planting and throwing during the rehab with weight vests so I get used to it, get that strength back and trust my front leg when you step and throw."

Sanchez said he has asked every day to participate in the 11-on-11 team drills, but those requests immediately have been met with a stern, "No."

"I don't feel that comfortable right now," Jets coach Rex Ryan said. "I don't want to risk that right now because you've got bodies flying around. I think we just need to stay the course, and in due time, he'll be out there. We all know he's going to be ready to roll."

Sanchez said he understands and agrees with the team's cautious approach.

"It's just not worth taking a chance," Sanchez said. "What if somebody falls? What if I have to move too quickly and I'm not ready for it yet? It's not worth the risk."

Sanchez, who led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game as a rookie, recently began to run on grass after being limited to jogging in a pool, then on a treadmill. He has said he hoped to return in time to fully participate by minicamp in June, but he would be 100 percent by training camp this summer.

"I do know that I'm getting better every day and I haven't had any regression," Sanchez said. "That's huge. If on one of these first couple of days, this thing swells up and shuts down my quad, then we have a problem, but it hasn't done that yet. If we keep progressing, I'm optimistic."

Revis Wants to be Highest Paid CB

Reported from NFL.com and other NFL Sources that Jets Cornerback Darrelle Revis wants to be the Highest Paid Cornerback in the National Football League. Rightfully so, he should be, and the Jets have agreed to that. Last year you could not get past "Revis Island" as he was unstoppable with every Wide Receiver he had faced. He should have won the Defensive Player of the Year, but he has no worries, because he will be more successfull and great next year, he will win the award. Here is the Full Story from NFL.com-

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Darrelle Revis wants a big payday that matches his lofty status as one of the NFL's best cornerbacks.

The New York Jets' All-Pro said Thursday that the team last week sent his agents a contract proposal that's being evaluated. Considered by many to be the league's top shutdown cornerback, Revis is scheduled to make just $1 million in the fourth season of his six-year rookie deal.

"If everything's right, the numbers are right, and everything's good, then I'll sign on the dotted line," Revis said. "If it's not and we have to negotiate more, then that's what we have to do."

Revis wants to be the highest-paid player at his position, something he believes isn't an outrageous request considering he's coming off an outstanding season in which he routinely handled opponents' top receivers. Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha currently holds the highest-paid distinction after signing a three-year, $45.3 million deal last offseason.

"I think that is fair," Revis said. "This is not where I'm fighting against the Jets and they're fighting against me."

Revis said he discussed the matter with Jets coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

"They believe I should be the highest-paid player at my position," Revis said. "They understand that, and I understand that. I don't think anybody would want to settle for less if they were in my situation right now. It's something that's going to get done.

"This is family to me. The Jets are family to me, and I trust them and respect them, and I hope they would do the same."

Revis said the team has promised him it would take care of the contract by training camp in August. Revis' agents, Neil Schwartz and Jon Feinsod, also represent former guard Pete Kendall and tight end Chris Baker, both of whom held out a few years ago in bitter contract disputes.

Revis said he hasn't yet considered the possibility of holding out if something isn't done before training camp.

"I wish I could answer that question, but right now, I can't," he said. "Right now, I'm just focusing on being here at OTAs (organized team activities). I told them I wasn't going to hold out in OTAs. I wanted to be here, and I wanted to be a part of this team. I'm one of the leaders on this team, so I wanted to be here and be a part of this."

"I don't know where the $20 million came from," Revis said. "I never told you guys that. I don't know who brought that up, but I'm sure it's not going to be up in that area. That's insane. I mean, that would be great. Who wouldn't want $20 million? That's a high price, but we're working it out right now."

Revis didn't reveal how much the Jets' offer is for, but he said it wasn't anywhere near $20 million per year.

"I wish I could make $20 million, but that's not going to happen," he said. "Let's just bring it back to reality."

The Jets must make a few tough decisions in the next few months, as well as next winter. In addition to Revis, Pro Bowl center Nick Mangold has asked for an extension, and linebacker David Harris and left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson could look for long-term deals.

"Those are some of the core guys, and we've got to keep those core guys here," Revis said. "Me and Tannenbaum and Rex, we talk about this all the time. We here at Jets Fuel expect a deal done soon, before training camp for a couple of these players.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets and All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis have begun "preliminary" talks on renegotiating his rookie contract.

Revis, due to make $1 million this season, is entering the fourth season of his six-year deal. He said Thursday that his agent has been speaking with the Jets for a while, and the sides want to do something before the season begins.

"They're preliminary," Revis said. "It's in the process."

Revis made his second Pro Bowl appearance in three seasons and finished second to Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Revis is widely regarded as one of the NFL's top shutdown cornerbacks, routinely taking on opponents' top wide receivers.

All-Pro center Nick Mangold also is looking for an extension with the Jets, and he said he spoke with his agent Wednesday night about talking to the team.

"We're moving forward with the process," Mangold said. "It's just one of those things where you can't rush it or slow it down. You kind of just go with the flow."

Mangold, who has made two Pro Bowl appearances, is entering the final season of his five-year deal.

"It's a sense of security for me," Mangold said. "I don't want to blow out a knee or do anything else drastic and not be able to continue on the way I want to. It's a big thing of having security coming into this year."

"I'm very confident," Mangold said of doing a deal. "I've done everything that I could from when I was drafted to where I am now, and done it the right way and done everything I can. So, I expect the Jets are going to do the same. It's something that I'm not worried about, and it's not keeping me up at night because -- maybe I'm foolish -- but I assume something's going to get done."

The Jets must make a few tough decisions in the next few months, as well as next winter. Linebacker David Harris and left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson also could be looking for long-term extensions, and the contracts of wide receivers Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes and cornerback Antonio Cromartie are up after the 2010 season.

To Sum Up the Jets Offseason So Far

After drafting Kyle Wilson, Vlad Ducasse, Joe McKnight, and John Connors, many things have been going on in Jets world. The start of OTA's, Mark Sanchez, and players wanting New Contracts.

The Rookie camp went very well. Joe McKnight had a rough start but is seeming very good now. Wilson, and Ducasse are very impressive as well as John Connors, who is the future at Fullback for the New York Jets. So far it seems though, Ducasse will win over Slausen for the Guard battle, but we will wait and see.

Meanwhile, Mark Sanchez is now running and throwing on his knee he has surgery on. He is looking extremely good and is ahead of his treatment schedule. We are all looking to seeing him more and more. He will be great in his 2nd year playing in the NFL.

Jets Fuel will just go and get started with the newest headlines, as everyone knows the Jets moves so far this offseason.

Thanks Jets Fans!

In the 2nd Round...

In the Second Round of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Vlad Ducasse. As expected, Alan Faneca was released. He was slowing down and the Jets needed some young, talented Guards. Now Ducasse and Matt Slausen will battle it out through the Pre-season.

As expected, the Jets are releasing 9 time Pro Bowler Alan Faneca. Faneca is due to make $7.5 million this season ($5.25 million guarenteed), so the Jets won’t be saving much by cutting ties with him. Faneca is still one of the league’s best run blocking guards, but his pass blocking has declined over the past few seasons. The Jets threw the ball less than any team in the league last year, and Faneca still gave up a league leading seven sacks in 2009.

The Jets went into the 2010 draft targeting a replacement for Faneca. Vladimir Ducasse, out of UMass, was selected 61st overall by the Jets. Ducasse (6′5, 332) was widely considered the second best guard prospect in the draft, after only Mike Iupati of Idaho. Ducasse has the size, strength, and athleticism to be successful in this league, but he is a little raw and needs to improve his handwork. Ducasse would appear to be the front runner to start in between C Nick Mangold and LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson. If the Jets feel like Ducasse needs a year to develop, they could go with a veteran free agent, or an in house option (Wayne Hunter or Matt Slausen).

The Jets have 3 picks in the final day of the draft (4th, 6th, and 7th rounds). The biggest needs for the Jets right now are all on the defensive side of the ball. The main position needs are outside linebacker, defensive end, and free safety. Both Ricky Sapp and Everson Griffen are still available and I would be surprised if they Jets passed on either one if they fall to the late 4th. Also, keep an eye on FS Kam Chancellor, out of Virginia Tech.

With the 1st Round Pick...

With the 29th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select, Kyle Wilson, Cornerback from Boise State.

Kyle Wilson is a very good Cornerback. He has hands, is versatle, and is very fast. He adds the third Cornerback we needed in the Secondary. We now have the best Cornerback tandem's in the National Football League. Aside from playing a Nickle Cornerback, Wilson will also be the starting Punt Returner on Special Teams. That is a position the Jets have always been very week on. Although this has happened, we expect him to be gone. The Jets will more than likely trade Clemens just before the Regular Season of 2010. The Jets will then sign a veteran backup who is good, and can help 2nd year QB, Mark Sanchez. The Jets shifted Holmes' money into roster, reporting and signing bonuses, which aren't affected by the suspension.

The move came one month after the Jets restructured cornerback Antonio Cromartie's contract so he could settle some financial obligations. A league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that the Jets converted part of Cromartie's $1.7 million salary into a roughly $500,000 bonus that he immediately received.

The Jets wouldn't directly comment on Cromartie's contract, but general manager Mike Tannenbaum said the team was trying to give the cornerback "his best chance to be successful" after the team acquired him in a trade with the San Diego Chargers.

Jason Taylor Update

A new update from NFL Network and from Jets Fuel!

Jason Taylor has been waiting and waiting and waiting. But he does not want to wait much longer. He wants to sign nwith an NFL team and is number 1 choice would be the Miami Dolphins, again. He has though stated he would like to be a New York Jet. That said, the Jets do not want to wait much longer for Taylor either. If they sign him, they would like it to be before the NFL draft which starts later this next upcomg week. If not, the New York Jets will use the FA slot they have on veteran QB, Mark Brunell, as a mentor to Mark Sanchez, and who can step in if Sanchez gets hurt for a few games. The New York Jets need a DE, but we over here at Jets Fuel, would love to see them pick one up in the draft. We do not need a washed up, 35 year old defensive end who has in his carear as a Dolphin, ripped the Jets, and Jets fans apart. He is a mean, angry fan that only wants his money and to be on a winning team. Personally, I hate Taylor and do not want him on this football team, as many others do not either. But, if he produces and does well Jets fans will cheer for him, but never be a fan of him. If he is terrible, he will be boo'ed all the way back to Miami. A report from NFL Netork said the Dolphins cancelled there meeting with Jason Taylor, and non will go on. Either Jason Taylor signs with the Jets this week, or does not, at all.

We will be giving you more information throughout the entire week concerning Jason Taylor.

Leon Washington Signs Tender

This is news from the New York Jets and the National Football League. Leon Washington has signed his Jets RFA tender. Jets fans as well as us, still think he will be traded sometime soon or until he can pass a teams physical. Here is the Full story from NewYorkJets.com-

Leon Washington is back and he and the Jets are moving forward together.

Washington, a restricted free agent, signed his qualifying offer from the Jets today, then spoke with reporters who were already here at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center for the team's annual predraft news conference that concluded just before Washington took the dais.

"It's great to be back. Walking in here today, I felt all the love I felt the last four years," said Washington, who returned to the complex to continue his rehab from surgery after breaking his leg early in Game 7 at Oakland last year. He added that the entire time he was training in Florida, "I was wearing my Jets gear every day and hopefully I would get back here, either by a team signing me to an offer sheet and the Jets matching the offer or by me signing my tender.

"So far I've done everything the right way," he said of his rehab. "I beat the infection stage early on. I rehabbed extremely well. The last five, six weeks I was gone, I made tremendous progress doing everything the right way. I'll sit down with the doctors and the trainers next week and we're going to set a timetable each week and each month and I'm going to do my best to hit those targets."

Washington was back for the first time since leaving the team complex last month to rehab on his own at Athletes Performance Institute in Pensacola, Fla. The Jets were constantly monitoring his progress, but general manager Mike Tannenbaum was happy to see him back in the building.

"I spoke to Leon this morning," Tannenbaum said. "We sure do [expect him to play for the Jets this season]. We're excited to have him back. You never know what would happen if the phone should ring, but our expectations are that he'll be here."

As an RFA, Washington didn't receive an offer sheet from any other NFL team, due to the unknown nature of how he'll bounce back from the injury. But both Washington and Tannenbaum spoke optimistically of what's ahead for Leon in Green & White in 2010.

"I feel confident in my abilities," Washington said. "The main thing is getting healthy. I feel when I do get healthy, I'll be able to contribute to this team in a significant way, whether it's returning kicks, catching the ball out of the backfield or running the ball. Looking at the moves the Jets have been making this offseason, we're trying to put ourselves in a situation where we're going to be in the Super Bowl. And if I can do anything to help the team get there, it's going to be a tremendous fit for me."

"Leon has an unbelievable work ethic," said Tannenbaum. "For a guy his height, he breaks a lot of tackles with sheer leg strength, and that's through hard work and a great work ethic. It was a significant injury but I would expect Leon to help us this year in a number of ways. We had a great talk, I'm sure the few weeks outside the building recharged his batteries, and he's ready to roll."

Washington also wasn't concerned about head coach Rex Ryan saying at last month's owners' meeting in Orlando, Fla., that he saw Leon in a third-down role, with Shonn Greene ticketed to get much of the carries and LaDainian Tomlinson coming in to replace Thomas Jones.

"I talked to Rex. He told me his stance on that is when I get healthy, he'll see if I can carry more of a load and I'm back to the old Leon. That's all that was, initially starting off doing things I did in the past and as I got healthy and got better, he'd increase my load."

Washington, punctuating his remarks with his trademark smile, said he's been running for three weeks or so. "Percentage-wise, I'm still down there, but I can run a straight line," he said. Tannenbaum said he thought "anatomically, he's pretty much back to being healed," and the GM's understanding is that Leon will be back in the Jets' offseason strength and conditioning program.

While declining to offer any early timetables until he meets with the medical and training staffs, Washington did say his plans are to practice in training camp.

"I feel good, my body feels good," he said. "Everything's on the up-and-up."

Jets Trade for WR, Santonio Holmes!

We here at Jets Fuel are sorry for the long term response on this, as we have been trying to get as much information as possible. Former Pittsburg Steelers WR Santonio Holmes has been traded to the New York Jets for this years, 5th round draft pick. The Steelers have been looking to trade Holmes for a while now, and it is helping both sides involved. The Jets have needed another speedy, WR. They finnaly got that in Santoni Homes. BUT, Holmes will be suspended for the first 4 games by violating the NFL's substance abuse. Santonio Holes as many will remember, made the spectacular catch for the Steelers in the fourth quarter to win Super Bowl 43. This many is a new, and great target for 2nd year QB, Mark Sanchez, who has just had surgery on his right knee. Holmes is a speedy WR across the middle that will help Mark Sanchez in the short to medium yard gains. Braylon Edwards handles the long, deap ball thrown. Jets fans across the world, including us, are so excited for Santonio Holmes to be a New York Jet!

Fireman Ed Opens Up

Wow, this is hilarious from NFL.com about Fireman Ed talking about Jason Taylor. I agree with Fireman from everything he says and more!

DE Jason Taylor is visiting the rival Jets for the second consecutive day, but one famed Jets fan is not pleased.

Not that this should be a surprise. Jets fans are expressive — to put it mildly. And let’s be honest, one of the highlights of the NFL Draft every April are the Jets fans booing their team’s latest selection. (Though that tradition was ruined when they drafted QB Mark Sanchez last year.)

Jets fan Ed Anzalone — better known as Fireman Ed — told the New York Daily News that he does not want Taylor to join his team. Anzalone notes that the Jets fans and Taylor have traded barbs over the years, with Taylor once saying that the Jets fans “take the ‘cl’ out of class.”

So having the former Dolphins defensive end on the team would be weird. Like Peyton Manning joining the Patriots. Tom Brady on the Colts. Or Brett Favre on the Vikings. (Two out of three is not bad.)

“He’s such a meathead,” Ed Anzalone told the Daily News.

“It’s hilarious. Let’s be real. This guy hates the Jets. He hates Jets fans more than anything. Put it this way: For him to even try to come here, it has to be two things: Nobody is bothering with him or he wants to win a championship. He wants to hop on board.”

But winning is winning. Anzalone went on to say that if Taylor did join the Jets, the fans would rally around him — if he plays well.

“I would get a kick out of it,” Anzalone said. “I don’t take these things too seriously. I have more hate for the Giants than I do Jason Taylor. Bottom line: If he performs, the fans will like him.”

Anzalone will join NFL Total Access on NFL Network on Thursday afternoon to talk further on Taylor’s possibly joining the Jets.

Jets with Veteran QB, Mark Brunell

Just reported that the same day the Jets are with Jason Taylor, they are also spending part of the day with veteran QB Mark Brunell. He could help fill our QB which we need a veteran QB that could be a backup and mentor to Mark Sanchez. We saw last year that Kellen Clemens cannot stay there with us.
Here is the Full story from profootballtalk.nbcsports.com -

The Jets will host 30 seasons of NFL experience at their facility Wednesday.

Soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback Mark Brunell will join Jason Taylor as a visitor to New Jersey Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News. As we mentioned earlier, the Jets are rather limited by the "final eight" rules.

They could only sign Taylor or Brunell right now, for instance. Getting Brunell under contract isn't likely a pressing matter.

Brunell could fill a veteran quarterback "mentor" role with the Jets to help Mark Sanchez and compete with Kellen Clemens for the backup quarterback job. Erik Ainge and Kevin O'Connell are also on the quarterback depth chart.

Jason Taylor to visit the Jets

This morning it was reported that Jason Taylor, current free agent and former Miami Dolphins defensive end/outside linebacker will visit the New York Jets today according to his agent and star ledger writer Manish Mehta.

After being the Jets rival for many years and bad mouthing the Jets and their franchise every chance he got, it is surely a shock that he will visit. However, the Jets seem to be the only team interested in the 6'6, 255 pound edge rusher thus far. He has shown interest to return to Miami, but Miami doesn't seem to content in bringing him back. There are many reasons why it would be good to bring Taylor in, but also some that are bad and make it very difficult to see Taylor in green and white.

The reasons why they should:

The Jets need a pass rusher in the worst way as they only totaled 32 sacks last year. Taylor has the most among active players in the NFL.

If Taylor is indeed signed, it would fill the void of the edge rusher they lacked and therefore would maybe change the draft plans. They still need youth at DE and OLB, but the Jets want to win now and picking a pass rusher high in the draft could take time to develop (Gholston).

Lastly, due to the final four rules the Jets can only sign him for the same amount of money that one of their RFA left, which is Jay Feely. He was due to make 1.5 million next year, so that's what the Jets would give him. 1.5 million would be a steal and a very cheap signing.

The reasons they should not go after him/would not work out:

Taylor is aging and will turn 36 by the start of next year, and has already contemplated retirement several times. The Jets need depth in the box on the defensive side of the ball and Taylor would not be that type of solution.

After playing almost all his career on the division rivalry Dolphins, Taylor has built up so much hate for the organization that I'm not sure he'd rather play here than retire.

Finally, even though Taylor made around 1.5 million last year and would get the same around this year, I'm not sure that'd be enough dough to get him to play for green and white. Could another chance overcome the hate for an entire organization?

All in all Taylor very well could solve the Jets need for that edge rusher to tally up sacks. But he is aging, hates the Jets, and would only be able to land about the same salary he had last year. Not to mention that most Jets fans would HATE to see Taylor on our side as he is not a fan favorite what so ever. Me? I wouldn't mind it, for a cheap price like that. But if he is signed, it must not be forgotten that youth in those spots still need to be adressed in the upcoming draft.

What do you all think? Taylor in green and white?

Jets Open Locker Room Today

Some interesting little news for Jets Fans... The Giants open it up in the regular season with the Jets on Monday Night football the same weekened in Week 1. Technically, the Jets serve the first game there which is in the preseason. Here is the full story from Espn.com by the Associated Press-

NEW YORK -- The first football game in the new Meadowlands Stadium will be between the owners of the $1.6 billion facility.

The NFL announced Wednesday that the New York Giants and New York Jets will play the first game Aug. 16 when they meet Monday night in the preseason opener for both teams.

The Dallas Cowboys will play the Cincinnati Bengals in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game to open the NFL's preseason schedule in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 8.

Carolina will play at Baltimore on Thursday night, Aug. 12, then the Jets and Giants meet the following Monday before the rest of the league gets into action later in the week.

Super Bowl champion New Orleans opens the preseason at New England. The date is still to be determined.

The Jets and Giants traditionally play the second-to-last preseason game against each other, but with the new stadium both teams wanted to be the first to play in it.

The Giants will play the first regular season game in the new Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 12. The Jets will open their regular season with the first Monday night game at the new stadium.

That decision caused some controversy.

Both teams also wanted to play the first regular-season game at the new stadium. But since the Giants and Jets are not on each other's schedule, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell flipped a coin to determine which would play first at home.

The Giants won the toss, but Jets owner Woody Johnson was upset that a representative of the team was not present when the coin was flipped.

The AFC champion Indianapolis Colts open their preseason at home against San Francisco.

The Minnesota Vikings, with or without Brett Favre, start the preseason at St. Louis.

Pete Carroll's first preseason game as Seattle Seahawks coach will be against at home against Tennessee.

New Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan opens the preseason at home against Buffalo.

Sanchez to be 'Absolutley' Ready for Jets Camp

Great News for Jets fans: Sanchez is expected and will be 100% by Jets Camp! Sanchez suffered problems with his knee last season, missing a game and a half. He decided this offseason to have minor surgery on his knee. Going into his second year and being more experieced, Mark Sanchez is expected and will be great and be able to make more tougher and longer throws. The Jets will still be a running football, smashmouth team, but expect more passes thrown be Mark Sanchez. Here is the full story from newyorkjets.com Randy's Radar with blogger, Randy Lange-

Mark Sanchez says he's well aware of how nervous Jets fans of a certain age get when the talk turns to their starting quarterback and the state of his knees.

"I've heard quite a bit about Joe Namath already," Sanchez said with a laugh today in between bites of a ribeye lunch in the players' dining hall at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. "It's all right. It was pretty minor surgery. In comparison, I think it's a lot less dramatic and a lot less serious."

In his first public comments since undergoing the mid-February procedure on his left knee, Sanchez told newyorkjets.com that he's feeling fine, physically and mentally, and on target for a full summer leading the Jets into this most important second year of the Sanchez/Rex Ryan era.

"I'm rehabbing like crazy, a lot of physical therapy. I'm in close contact with Dr. [Ken] Montgomery and he's pleased with my progress," the quarterback said. "Really, we're on the same timetable. I'll absolutely be 100 percent by training camp and be ready to go for the season."

Sanchez acknowledged the operation could have been stressful and nerve-wracking for him, but the care provided by Dr. Montgomery, chairman of the Jets' medical department, and head athletic trainer John Mellody put him at ease.

"These guys, they have a history of getting players back on time, healthy and ready to go. I don't expect anything different," he said.

"I knew it was something I didn't want to have to worry about later on in my career, just get it knocked out, suck it up for a couple of weeks and then get better," he added of the kneecap issue that first arose before his last season at Southern Cal and flared up on his sideline slide and hit against Carolina. "This eliminates the possibility of that happening again. It just kind of gives you peace of mind as an athlete, like 'All right, that's one less thing.' "

"Staying Here, Being Around"

Perhaps the rehab also has a silver lining. Sanchez said that other than a four-day sojourn to the West Coast, he has spent innumerable hours at the team's state-of-the-art complex.

"I think this injury taught me a little about what needs to happen every offseason," he said. "Not the injury part, obviously, but staying here, being around. I almost wouldn't have known any better. I would've been home, maybe watched some film and kind of gotten into the playbook a little bit, but not as focused as I was here. This was my outlet."

He may have a point about the outlet part, but we suspect Sanchez would've been here anyway. He demonstrated those tendencies of being a gym rat/film buff/team leader when he first arrived less than a year ago as the Jets' fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft, and he's declared of North Jersey, "This is my home."

He also said that now that he has entered into his first full offseason as an NFL starting quarterback, not being that kind of leader was not an option.

"I don't know how else to explain it. It's just a grind but it's the good kind of grind that keeps you waking up, that keeps you excited," he said of his leadership mantle. "There's almost like a criterion you want to follow for being a quarterback, the right way to do things, and it's not just to follow in that mold but because you want to do it, you've got to want it really bad.

"You've got to want to become friends with these guys on that team that have just shown up. You've got to go out of your way, as weird as it sounds, to go sit in the cold tub, even if you just sat in the cold tub, with the new guy. Just talk to him: 'How's everything going? Do you need anything? We're going to see a movie. Want to come with us?' "

One player Sanchez can no longer talk with in the 45-degree pool is Thomas Jones, who's gone to Kansas City. That's another element of being a pro that Sanchez is fully experiencing for the first time, losing teammates that he went into battle with all the previous season. Sanchez said it was "tough" to lose Jones, a locker room neighbor and top-notch performer, and "bittersweet" in the sense that while Jones has departed, LaDainian Tomlinson has arrived.

"LaDainian? He's awesome," Sanchez said. "He looks in great shape. And it's not like he's playing behind an average group up front — our O-line is pretty good. It's going to be fun for him and he'll teach me a lot, just with the protections, and it'll help Shonn [Greene], it'll help Leon [Washington], it'll help Chauncey [Washington] learning from his experience."

"Pretty Special, What We've Got"

Now Sanchez is bringing his own experience to bear on the Jets' fortunes. He's surviving his first and what he no doubt hopes is his last offseason rehab. He hears occasionally from Namath, patron saint of the Green & White whose feedback has always been "supprtive" and "positive." He got through his first year's encounter with the passionate Jets fans intact.

And that's in large part because of the way the Jets tackled the 2009 campaign, which he said unfolded "almost like a tale of three seasons."

"We started off red-hot. Nobody could touch us. Then we go through that stretch that just was terrible. I was making bad decisions and not playing to my potential," he said.

"And at the end, when it was like a do-or-die situation, it turned into almost like that NCAA tournament going on right now — single-elimination, win and you're in. All we needed was a chance. Rex said, 'Just get us into the dance and I promise we can take this thing a long way.' "

Sanchez said he was no Final Four prodigy the past two weeks. His NCAA bracket sheet was busted a while back. But he and his knee are getting stronger every day and so is his football team as the Jets try to take two more steps than they took last season — a win in the title game, then a win in Super Bowl XLV.

"I don't think a lot of cafeterias around the league right now look like ours does right now," he said of the din coming from a good number of his teammates chowing down after another day of offseason work. "Like when LT came to visit, he saw a bunch of other running backs here, he saw quarterbacks working out already, he saw guys going out to movies, hanging out, getting dinner.

"It's not the same everywhere. That's not to say one team is better or worse than another, but this is pretty special, what we've got. So it's hard to leave, it's easy to stay around. Trust me, it's nice."

Leon Washington Absent

Head Coach, Rex Ryan, has been very disapointed of Leon Washington. Leon knows this and that’s what’s disappointing,” said Ryan when writers huddled around the head coach. “Wherever he’s at might be good, but it’s not the best. I want what’s best for him and the New York Jets and this is a time there’s team building. This guy is a great young man — I love Leon — but it’s still disappointing he’s not here.”

Washington, who suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula last October, is a restricted free agent. He received a second-round tender from the Green & White but hasn’t signed his contract. He is free to sign an offer sheet with another club and the Jets would have a week to match or receive a second-round pick in April’s draft as compensation.

“When we put our tenders out there, that’s when he left. And he was doing phenomenal,” Ryan said of Washington’s rehabilitation. “This guy was working his tail off just like we all knew Leon would do and he was getting better. He’s getting close to really being back. That’s why I hate to see him not take advantage of what we have here.”

Earlier this week, Ryan said he envisioned Washington being "a third-down back and Pro Bowl returner” for the Jets in 2010. And he stood by those comments today, indicating that it should no way be seen as a slight.

“Do we expect him to come back from the surgery? Yeah. And you’re going to put him in there instead of Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson? Maybe you would, but I’m not comfortable with that,” he said. “Let’s see where he’s at. I’m not just going to give him the ball 20 times a game coming off of that. He has to be ready to take that kind of role. If he’s ready to take an expanded role, then obviously we can see that. Third down is the most important down you have on offense and that would be an ideal situation for him. We have three great backs.”

The Jets most recently added the NFL’s eighth all-time rusher to that backfield in LaDainian Tomlinson. While Ryan and the league's top-ranked defense made LT a non-factor (15 touches, 24 yards) in the Jets’ divisional playoff win over the Chargers, he still feels Tomlinson has plenty of good football left in him.

“We had eight guys down in the box every snap when he was in there, so maybe that’s one thing. We had to cover him with a guy-and-a-half every time, so we were never going to solo him,” he said of locking up LT. “He might have not run the ball very well — well, I hope not. We had everybody keying him.”

The Jets also quietly made another key move last week, signing ageless FB Tony Richardson for one more year.

“He’s here for all the right reasons,” Ryan said. “He loves it here, he’s still a very productive player and he’s chasing something that is hard to get.”

Rex isn't entirely closing the book on either K Jay Feely or DE Marques Douglas, but there is a very real possibility that both players will be elsewhere in the fall.

“We’re always open to any situation but right now we have Nick Folk and we’re happy to have him. You guys know how I felt about Jay and feel about Jay,” said Ryan. “ I think he’s a tremendous kicker, a tremendous person, and we’ll see what happens.”

Marques, said the coach, "probably has one or two years left but if he can get a bid deal for somewhere else, he has my blessing.”

My take on this- As far as I am seeing, is that there is a good chance of a trade for Leon Washington. It was reported so far that the SF 49ers and Miami Dolphins may be interested, but the Jets will not trade Leon within there own division. For a guy like Leon Washington he is tendered at a 2nd round draft pick, but if a trade appears to happen, it will close the New York Jets on multiple valuable draft picks including the 2nd rounder for Leon Washington. If they get a good deal then I say go with it. We have many type players on this football that can return kicks and do the wildcat package especially Brad Smith. With the more picks, we can get guys like Leon Washington easily. Therefore, I would love to have Leon back to the Green and White but after the injury and wanting a bigger contract, I do not see him here for the 2010 season. It would be a very good thing for the Jets to get more worthy draft picks.

Our New Logo Is Up!

Last Friday at Jets Fuel's Chairty Ball in the Atlantic City Convention Center, one of the things to be announced was Jets Fuel's new logo. Here is the whole story from newyorkjets.com Randy's Radar-

Equipment manager Gus Granneman and his staff are busy today with a hamperful of newly assigned uniform numbers to recently assigned players. But we could have seen one player/number combination coming down One Jets Drive:

LaDainian Tomlinson will wear No. 21 in green and white.

Tomlinson, of course, has worn 21 since he entered the NFL as the San Diego Chargers' fifth pick overall in the 2001 draft.

To get that winning blackjack hand, LT had to fight off a few new teammates who also had connections to the number. CB Dwight Lowery began his Jets career in 2008 as No. 34 before starting anew with 21 last offseason. And newly signed S Brodney Pool had worn 21 with Cleveland since the Browns drafted him in the second round of the '05 draft.

Pool will wear 22 as a Jet. Lowery becomes 26, pending official league approval of the change.

Newly signed LB/ST Lance Laury will receive his new number once he arrives. Here are the 14 numbers just assigned to new arrivals and some of the future signees from last month:

K Nick Folk 2 CB Dwight Lowery 26

P T.J. They have glaring needs at the defensive line, the defensive backfield, and wide receiver. The could also use more youth on the offensive line, who as of now happens to be the leagues best but are growing fast in age.

Options:

At pick 29 overall, the Jets have been rumored to be looking at..

WR Dez Bryant Oklahoma State

WR Arrelious Benn Illinois

DT Terrence Cody Alabama

DT/DE Jared Odrick Penn State

WR Golden Tate ND

S Taylor Mays USC

G Mike Iupati Idaho

All of these players would be a great fit into the Jets system and would fill some major holes. Additionally, all have a decent chance of falling to the Jets at 29 except for Cody, who the Jets have expressed great interest in, but if they want him it would likely come via trade. At WR, the Jets could upgrade their core that already has Braylon Edwards (signed tender today), Jerricho Cotchery, David Clowney (re signed yesterday), Brad Smith (signed tender today), Dustin Keller (TE), and Danny Woodhead. To solve the defensive line problem, Cody could provide depth to the line while Kris Jenkins ages, and Odrick could create the solid pass rush the Jets have been seeking. Then, with the competition at safety that involves Eric Smith, James Ihedigbo, and recently signed Brodney Pool, the hard hitter out of USC could supply the Jets with the head hunting safety Ryan has been looking for. Lastly, a long shot but some possibility, the Jets could add depth and youth to their offensive line by adding stud guard Mike Iupati who had a killer combine.

This is where the needs stand as we speak, but as the draft approaches more and more possibilities and options will pop out and well be here to update you on them!

Jets Re-Sign Safety Ihedigbo

Breaking News: Jets have just re-signed RFA Safety, James Ihedigbo to a 1 year deal worth 1.01 million dollars. The talented young safety the Jets have is getting another chance and hopefully signed next year to a long term contract. Ihedigbo is a talented football player. He is great on the Jets Special Teams in running downfield, tackling, blocking, and trying to block punts. James has full potential ahead of him in upcoming years of football. He has helped us this past year a bunch in the Special Teams and getting active in the defensive system under Head Coach Rex Ryan who also says- "He really likes this guy and has more to come." This year the Jets traded S, Kerry Rhodes, to the Arizona Cardinals for a 4th and 7th round draft pick. The Jets have brought in Brodney Pool but they are usure if he is a long term solution for the other Safety position with Jim Leonhard. Ihedigbo was backing up Jim Leonhard last season and is looking for a chance to improve and shine with the Jets in any Safety position on defense that they put him in. He should get more playing time on defense this year with Brodney Pool and Eric Smith. He will again be brought in for Rex Ryan's multiple player blitz packages in which James Ihedigbo has been very great at and made so key plays for us in 2009. Jets fans are extremely excited to see what this man can do and bring more to New York Jets football!

Jets WR Braylon Edwards Agrees to RFA Tender Contract

Reported from Rich Cinimi on Twitter that the Jets have signed there #1 WR- Braylon Edwards to a hefty 5 million dollar tender for a 1 year deal. It is a 10% raise on Edwards' 2009 salary. Clearly the Jets want to see how he handles himself with a first full season worrying about football and only football. Edwards has been cleared of his off the field, legal issues. He is said to participate in offseason voluntary workouts, mini camp, and training camp. He will be working with the players around him for the whole offseason. Braylon last year finished with only 45 catches, 680 yards, and four touchdowns. He was traded to the Jets in week 5 of the regular season from the Cleveland Browns and Eric Mangini. He confidence is great and it is great to see the man can now focus on football. With a great team there is potential that the man could be great again soon like many thought when he was drafted by the Browns in 2005. Edwards will enjoy a full offseason and season with his QB, Mark Sanchez, and still labeled as his "new" team. Sanchez is now a more expierienced Quarterback going into is 2nd year. He can now make the tougher passes and throw the ball down field a little more often. The Jets will see if Braylon has the season he should and he expects which is a top of the charts for WR's goal for himself. If he excels then he will likely get re-signed next offseason to a long-term contract. We are glad to have him back to New York Jets football!

The JFB Hall of Fame!

I will be in Atlantic City next week Thursday to Sunday for the 2010 Antique Show in the Atlantic City Convention Center! No details on the contract for his 16th NFL season has not been released, here is more from newyorkjets.com Randy's Radar-

03/16 — On the day that new tailback LaDainian Tomlinson's Jets contract was officially signed, fullback Tony Richardson returned to the Green & White fold.

Richardson has agreed in principle on a new deal to return for his 16th NFL season and his third with the Jets, the team announced tonight. No terms of the new contract were announced.

The man most often called "T-Rich" became an unrestricted free agent last week. His 15-year numbers — 424 carries for 1,714 yards (4.0 avg.) and 15 touchdowns, 205 receptions for 1,512 yards (7.4 avg.) and nine TDs — are still impressive, even though for he's averaged less than two touches a game for the past six seasons.

But with the Jets, the 6'1", 238-pounder has been more known for being one of the integral parts to the growing, meshing machine that the Jets' offensive line, tight ends and backs have become under coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and OL coach Bill Callahan.

Last year, of course, he was the blocking fullback on the NFL's No. 1 rushing offense and the franchise's most productive rushing unit (2,756 yards). And with No. 49 leading the way, the Jets averaged 4.7 yards per carry in 2008 and 4.53 yards in '09, the first- and third-best season averages in franchise history.

"We hold Tony in the highest regard for what he does on and off the field," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said last week. "I wouldn't rule anything in or out at this point. Whoever he's with next year, he'll make them better on the field as well as off."

Much has changed already in the Jets' backfield this offseason with the departure of Thomas Jones to Kansas City, the arrival of Tomlinson, and the plans to have Shonn Greene shouldering the load for the ground game in 2010. But one piece will remain constant and that is Richardson, who will turn 39 in December, getting him one year closer to matching his uniform number.

Brandon Marshall Rumors

A few days ago, a Denver source as well as ESPN rumor central were reporting that the Jets were still very well interested in acquiring stud wide receiver Brandon Marshall. The report was the Jets were trying to get together a package deal that did not require the Jets giving up their first round pick of the 2010 draft.

The potential deal was speculated to include either wide receiver Jerricho Cotchey or Braylon Edwards, plus much more. I'm here to tell you that all these rumors are false. The rumor never had any possibility and after a day of talk, it was officially ruled that the deal had "no legs".

I mean honestly, I would rather keep our two stud receivers and our picks than trade for the potential murder target when Darent Williams was murdered. He is nothing but trouble and a headcase.

It can also be assumed that these rumors had been started to raise the price of Marshall for teams highly interested such as the Seattle Seahawks. That is my opinion, that the Hawks were trying to fool others to get them to give up more, which is a very clever trick.

Anyways, the Marshall to the Jets rumors should be put to rest.

Hello LT, Goodbye Leon

Breaking news-Jets signed Ladainian Tomlinson to a 2 year deal according to multiple sources. LT has had a decline in his last two years of play, but still is 3rd all time with 153 touchdowns.

Clearly the guy still has some play left in the tank, because this move not only affects the Jets backfield in a positive way, but also in a negative way. The signing today will most likely be the farewell to Jets running back leon washington. Washington, coming off a broken leg (open fracture) in week 7 last year, and still not being able to pass his physical as early as last week, we just might have seen the last of number 29. He is tendered for a second round pick and his crazy agent, Alvin Keels, wants a big extension. Leon has also received interest knowingly from the 49ers and Patriots, and that's of just what we know.

On the other hand, adding LT in the backfield will not only create rests for starter Shonn Greene, but it will add another package in the Jets playbook that they did not have last year-running backs catching passes out of the backfield. Tomlinson is an expert at that, and is only great at open field moves, which the Jets lacked. He also adds a locker room presence that is irreplaceable and will help motivate the squad.

I'm glad the Jets are active in free agency, but this move scares me a little. A veteran back who is on a downfall; the jets must know something that I don't know, and I sure hope they do. It would obviously be ideal to keep all 3 backs, but at this point it is highly unlikely. Either way, welcome to NY Ladainian Tomlinson, wish only the best.

Remember, Free agency has just begun...

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; The Jets have now traded for somebody to compliment Revis, and shut down all passing options. A normal fan and team would be more than happy with Cromartie coming to New York, but not us Jets. We want more. Free agenc y has just begun and trust me, Mike Tannenbaum is on the phone 24/7 trying to improve his squad as much as he can. Adding Cromartie improves the defense drastically, but there are still numerous areas the Jets need to improve in. There are a few names that come to mind when thinking about the Jets need of a pass rusher (DE or OLB), wide receiver, and running back.

The need of a pass rusher will most likely be fulfilled via the 29th pick of the NFL draft. But a name that jumps out if the Patriots decide to cut him is Adalius Thomas. An outside linebacker who had the good years of his career in Baltimore under current Jets coach Rex Ryan, and has been ineffective since joining the Pats two years ago. Rumor has it that he is very interested in playing for the Jets and Ryan again, and if he is cut, he will most likely be in green and white.

The need of a wide receiver could easily be solved as well. Of course, there is always the draft where there is a bunch of talent at the position. Some names the Jets are thought to be looking at are Golden Tate (ND), Jordan Shipley (Texas), and Damian Williams (USC). There have also been rumors about trade talks between the Jets and Cardinals. The Cards have been reported very interested in New York safety Kerry Rhodes, after they released their own safety Antrel Rolle. They claim to want Rhodes straight up for Boldin, or a 3rd round draft choice for Boldin. Boldin is tough as nails and has great hands, just like current Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery. The only issue in trading for Boldin is that he is in his last year of his contract, and is looking for a big deal coming up, which is not very attractive to any team. Now that the Jets grabbed Cromartie, the Rhodes for Boldin deal chances dropped drastically. Having two good corners and a safety that is a master of going over the top is deadly. Another wide receiver that the Jets may look at is former long time Jet, Coles. Cole’s contract was terminated by the Bengals and is now on the open market. If the Jets don’t want to spend a ton of money on a receiver, this would not be a bad signing even though Coles has lost a good amount of speed.

At running back, the Jets recently released Thomas Jones, but now have plans of trying to sign him back. The reason being is that they wanted to avoid paying Jones his costly roster bonus. They also recently placed a 2nd round tender of running back Leon Washington. The chances both are on the squad next year are very unlikely. Thomas Jones will be tough to get back as there are already many times interested in the aging back. The Jets will most likely look through free agency to find a third veteran back to play with Greene and Washington. They could sign Westbrook, Tomlinson, J. Lewis, Larry Johnson, Mike Bell, and more. Most of these backs are old and are not looking for a blockbuster deal. Mr. T will not go into the season with only two backs, it’s almost certain.

The jets remaining holes are very easily solvable, and will most likely be addressed sooner rather than later because of Mike Tannenbaums excitement and love for improving his teams at a championship.

Welcome Antonio Cromartie

The first big move in the offseason is made by Mike T and the Jets. A little while ago the Jets traded a 3rd round conditional draft pick in 2011 for San Diego cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

After making the pro bowl in 2007 with 10 interceptions, he has not been the same ballhawk he once was. The main reason being he did not fit in with the San Diego defensive scheme. They ran a ton of zone, which is not Cromartie's niche. His niche is man to man coverage. The 26 year old corner has all the raw talent in the world, and if anybody can rip it out of him it's Rex Ryan.

The draft pick the Jets traded can only be as high as a second rounder, depending of Cromartie's performance and playing time. Finally getting a player to compliment Revis on the other side that has the ability to play solid man to man is very big for the Jets team looking to make a super bowl run. This also gets rid of the need to a CB in the draft, focusing our needs more on a pass rusher and wide receiver. Playing man to man with little safety help on either side will open up even more, yes more blitzing schemes for Rex Ryan to come up with.

All in all, the Jets did not give up much to get a talented cornerback to strengthen their defense. He can only help improve the number one ranked defense, and I'm very excited to see what this man brings to the table come next year.

TJ gone, Who's next?

It is official, the Jets will release star running back Thomas Jones. Sometime this week, Jones will be cut, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, out into aging running back market. This was not a big surprise, and was even expected by most. Jones was due to make a total of 5.8 million dollars this year, which the Jets felt was too high for a running back approaching 32 years of age. They have decided they have faith in second year running back Shonn Greene who had a sensational rookie season, and Leon Washington, who is recovering from a devastating broken leg early in last years season. Now the question becomes, where will the Jets go from here? There are a few ways the Jets can go:

1. The Jets stay confident in the two back combo that they already have, Greene and Washington.

2. They could dig deep into the pool of free agent backs and sign one of them . Free agent running backs that the Jets might give a look are Brian Westbrook, Tomlinson,Jamal Lewis,Darren Sproles and even Mike Bell

3. They could address the running back position in the draft.

The chances the Jets stay with the dual headed rushing attack of Greene and Washington in my opinion is the most unlikely case. Greene is very injury prone as we saw this year, concluding his year by hurting his ribs and missing the whole second half of the championship game. Washington suffered an open fracture leg wound at Oakland earlier this year, and is assumed to be on the right track to recovery. I’m not too confident on Washington though because usually people who suffer an injury to that extent never return the same way they were. Also, the Greene –Washington combo are two young backs, and with transaction king Mike Tannenbaum running the show there is no doubt in my mind they won’t stick just with these two.

The most likely scenario would be number two. With running backs getting cut left and right, this is the perfect chance for the Jets to go out and get a veteran back that they need. The aspect of these backs that stick out the most, especially in Westbrook and Tomlinson, is the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and make open field moves. These two backs are tremendous at doing this, and would add another threat to this Jets offense. Jones did not have this aspect to offer, nor does Greene. With Washington iffy on health, the passing to backs will most likely be very limited this year, unless they bring in one of these backs. But if the Jets don’t care about passing to backs and want somebody exactly like Jones for cheaper, Mike Bell is the way to go. The free agent back played for New Orleans this year and showed spurts of great ability, although he was always splitting carries with Pierre Thomas and Bush. He runs downhill and delivers the hit, just as Jones did. Bell is the least noted free agent back, and he would most likely sign a cheap deal. This would help the Jets in a year which they have many restricted free agents to bring back. Either way, this seems like the most logical way to go about getting a third back

The last way the Jets could go about this, is going to the NFL draft for one. It is not a glowing need for the Jets to address, CB and DE are, but ya never know what can happen to draft day. The Jets have been reported to have talked to Andre Dixon, the quick running back from UCONN. The draft is deep at the position, and almost all were very impressive on sunday at the combine. The fastest 40 time was run by Javid Best, followed by C.J. Spiller. Toby Gerhart also turned in a great work, after being questioned for his speed he more than exceeded expectations. The Jets don't need youth at running back, but if worse comes to worse and they have a chance of acquiring a young stud back, they might grab him.

All in all, the Jets probably will not go into the 2010-2011 season with just two backs. Whether it be free agency or the draft or even trade, I'm sure Mike Tannenbaum will find a way to make the team better.

Thomas Jones: Stay or Go?

Jets star running back Thomas Jones, who rushed for over 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns this year, is due a 3 million dollar roster bonus early in the month of march. The simple question here is, will TJ be kept? 3 million for a running back that is approaching 32 years of age? A little much. On the other hand, TJ has produced in h uge numbers the past two years and has shown no obvious signs of decline. In the playoffs, rookie running back Shonn Greene took over most of the carries for Jones. Greene just appeared to have more left in the tank after not playing much throughout the regular season, while Jones was the work horse for most of it. For the Jets to go into next year with only a rookie back and Leon Washington (who no one really knows how well his broken leg recovery went), seems very risky to me. In my opinion, I think the Jets need a veteran back in the mix. Whether that vet is TJ? I just don't know because of the money issue. What the Jets could do is let Jones test that market and fish into the pool of free agent running backs. So far, Tomlinson and Westbrook are big names on the market. They both could be very valuable if they are signed and might even be more effective in the Jets system because unlike TJ, they catch passes out of the backfield and have great open field moves. Don't get me wrong, I would love for TJ to stay because he wants to win, and does everything he can to win. He has the heart of a lion and motivates the team week after week. As we get closer until the Jets are due to pay Jones, the rumors around are saying that he very might well be the next big name back on the market. In fact, today ESPN NFL Insider had a comment on this.....

"Next high-proile RB to monitor is N.Y.'s Thomas Jones. Jets must decide whether Jones is worth $3 million roster bonus due March 9".

It would be sad to see Thomas Jones leave New York, but in the times of the NFL where running backs seem to only have few good years left in the tank, I would not be surprised if the Jets let him run loose. Now and days, running backs such as Shaun Alexander, Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, and many more have a bunch of years in which they are tremendous. But then, age hits them and they all start immediately declining. This could be the case with Jones as he approaches 32 this coming year, and I think the Jets are thinking the same thing. Although the one thing that sticks out that contradicts that theory of the NFL is Curtis Martin. Curtis was consistent his whole career from start to finish, and HEY! He happened to play on the Jets and is a potential future HOF. Not saying TJ is a future hall of famer, but you never know what ya get with running backs. For all we know, TJ could still be a superstar and we could be kicking ourselves for letting him go. On the other side, if he is let go and he declines fast, we will be patting ourselves on the back for this decision. As of right now, it is uncertain what they will do with Jones. TJ and his agent will meet this weekend with the Jets at the combine and will discuss the situation more in depth. Hopefully all goes well.

Will the Jets get Aso?

Yesterday, Adam Scheftter of ESPN reported that the Raiders released an important statement. They would be open on trading anybody from their squad, including the highest paid defensive back in league history, 28 year old Asomugha. A few weeks earlier at Land Shark stadium for the Pro Bowl, Jets corner Darrelle Revis and Asomugha joked about if Aso came to the Jets. Aso said something along the lines of he'd love to play along side of Revis, and under new coach Rex Ryan. Of course, many reports and speculations came from this, resulting in Aso saying it was a joke. But me personally, I don't think it was a joke at all. I beleive he just said that because he was avoiding the possibility of the Raiders filing a tampering charge on the Jets. Anyways, Asomugha is still in his mammoth contract in which he is due to make around 16 million dollars this year, making him virtually untradeable.....heres where it gets tricky. If the Raiders are indeed foolish enough to give up Asomugha and they do find a deal that works with them and the Jets, his contract must be restructured. In order to do this, he must agree to. Remember, Revis is still in his rookie contract and is seeking a new, big deal. Revis obviously would not like it if Asomugha was paid more than him, if he did come to the Big Apple. In the uncapped year, the Jets can actually decide not to pay Darrelle, but I think they will, especially if they trade for Asomugha. If the Jets get him, he will have to be paid as a number two cornerback and accept the fact that he is losing all of this money that he once had. This is why the deal is a long shot...but still is very possibly because it seems like Aso would be willing to do this. Now to the other aspect of this trade, what the Jets would give up. Well, Oakland does not have a first round pick because they gave it up for Richard Seymour earlier this year. The Jets would give them the 29th pick of the draft, their second round pick, their sixth round pick, and another player thrown in, possibly Gholston. In receiving, they'd get Naamdi and also maybe a late pick thrown in. The thing with this is, Oakland wants youth , which means they want picks. If what i speculate the Jets would give up came true, it'd leave them with a 5th round pick being their earliest. With the Jets getting old in a lot of places I'm not sure this would be a good deal for the Jets. Maybe Oakland wants somebody else, a specific player. Who? I am not sure of, but Al Davis has been known to act very foolish in the past so I would not be suprised if he went after a player on the roster who I am not thinking of. There are a bunch of factors that have to come into play to make this deal work, and it is a long shot. But if theres one team that can pull it off, Mike Tannembaum and the Jets can get it done. Just imagine Jets fans, Darrelle Revis and Naamdi Asomugha playing side by side. Nobody could pass on us. Moss and Welker? Shut down. This is a great oppurtunity and it also gets rid of the Jets need for a pass rusher because who needs a great pass rush when ya got the two best corners in the NFL. Of course it would help to have a great pass rusher, but you get my point. As the date March 5, the time where all teams can start trading, approaches, the trade talks are heating up. Aso in green and white would be ideal and surely give the Jets a much better shot to win their first championship since 1969.
Your thoughts?

Drafts Needs

The Jets finished in the final four in the NFL, meaning they cannot really go after any free agents so to speak. The draft this year will be their main source to improve there squad. With a 1st round pick, 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th, the Jets need to get some youth at the DL, CB, WR, and OL. I think the primary addition will be a pass rusher, one of two things the defensive did not have this year. The second is with Sheppard most likely gone, they need a solid number two cornerback. Then somewhere in there, maybe involving a trade, the Jets need another WR. The staple of the NFL these days are the little, quick receivers who read zones tremendously, such as arch rival Wes Welker. There are a lot of them in the draft who have these qualities, such as Jordan Shipley out of Texas. Overall, we will definitely see a trade or two come draft time because we all know how Tanny loves to move around. I am very excited and anxious to see what the Jets will do come April. Any thoughts?

A look back on the AFC Championship: Colts 30 Jets 17

	By Anthony Capp

The clock stuck triple zeros. The game was over and the upset was achieved. A rookie head coach, quarterback, and running back had went into San Diego (winners of 11 straight) and won 17-14. Along to Indianapolis they went, to try to pull off an even bigger upset. Indy, anchored and fueled by Peyton Manning were heavy favorites, as they should of been. Rex loves it when they aren't favored because he thinks his Jets should be favored every single game. Though as game time approached, more and more people started jumping onto the Jets bandwagon. The atmosphere on the field for warmups was electric on the Jets side, and an every day look on the Colts side. The Colts had been here before, in fact many times, that they were more than used to it already. This was the Jets first AFC Championship game since 1998, where they had a second half collapse en route to John Elway and the Broncos. The Jets made it to two AFC championship games, both versus hall of fame quarterbacks, tough luck. None the less, they were here and out for the coin toss, where the reef made his first hiccup of the game. He said the "New York Giants" won the toss, which led to a big laughter among the Colts fans. Bad start? Jay Feely kicked off, and gave the ball to the leagues best passing offense. The first play from scrimmage Peyton went right after the leagues best cornerback Darrelle Revis for a first down. Going after Revis on the first play from scrimmage and beating him was Reggie Wayne, a risky yet worthwhile decision by Mr. Manning. After that, a stuff of Addai and an incomplete pass leading to third and long. Even though it was early in the game, this play would determine which Jets team came to play. Manning dropped back and was a victim of the tenacious Jets blitz, who dropped him. A great start for the underdogs, who then got the ball for their first drive. Surprisingly the Jet offense moved the ball with ease down the field, where Sanchez would hit Cotchery on a crucial third down and later Edwards for a 20 yard gain. Great play calling by often criticized Brian Schottinheimer, but it was too good to be true. Schotty then shut down creative playbook, and the Jets had to settle for a field goal attempt. Jay Feely from 44 yards was wide right, not good. The Colts seized the great field position and took it down for a first and goal inside the Jets 5 yard line. There the defense rallied together and held the Colts to a field goal somehow. Stover booted it through, 3-0 Colts. Not the worst scenario, could of been a lot worse. The Jets O trotted back onto the field to start at the twenty. On first down Sanchez dropped back, giving a play action to thomas jones, pumping left to Edwards, and hitting Edwards on the double move. Edwards caught, yes caught the ball and sprinted the rest of the way for an 80 yard touchdown. What more could a Jets fan want at this point. A brilliant play , and executed to perfection. The Colts, in shock, drove down the field to try to retake the lead. They had to settle for another field goal that Stover made, but something more important than the 3 points happened on this drive. Donald Strickland, the Jets nickel and important in key packages, went down with an injury and was in serious pain. In the postgame interviews David Harris, the Jets star LB, admitted that, "he was a huge part of our gameplan today and it's unfortunate he had to go down." Turning point of the game? Yes. The Jets got the ball back though, and got down into field goal range, and Jay Feely booted the kick making it 10-6 Jets. The next drive, even without Strickland and a limit of defensive backs, the Jets held the Colts to a punt. They easily drove down the field with a mix of good passes by Sanchez and good chunks of yards gained by rookie running back Shonn Greene. They drove it down to about the 8 yard line, where they stalled on first and second down. Then 3rd down came up, the worst down for rookie quarterbacks. This theory did not affect Sanchez though, as he stood tall in the pocket and delivered the ball perfectly to Dustin Keller off his cut, and he took a big blow (player was later fined by the NFL). Keller caught it for six, putting the Jets up a whopping 11 points. WIth about a minute and 30 seconds remaining the Jets booted the ball back to Peyton Manning and his struggling offense. But Peyton, being notorious for his two minute drill skills, showed the world why he was known to be the king of it. He drove down 80 yards in 50 seconds, throwing a touchdown to Austin Collie. He hit some huge throws on the drive, mostly to Collie and Garcon. This could also be called one of the turning points of this AFC Championship game, where the Colts got their mojo back. That was the half, the Jets up 17-13 instead of 17-6. Even though the Jets got the ball in the second half, it wasn't looking good because of that quick strike. The second half began, and the Jets got a good return by Brad Smith and then drove a little bit, just sneaking into potential field goal range for almost automatic Jay Feely, who shockingly missed once already. From 51 yards, a very high snap and a shaky hold led to Feely not getting a good foot on the ball. He came up short and to the right. Even though there was plenty of time left, that was essentially the ball game. If the Jets got points on that drive, they could of been in it. Manning, being the superstar that he is, saw the weakness in the Jets defense (cornerbacks Dwight Lowery and Drew Coleman) and exploited them with ease. All throughout the second half, Peyton to Collie and Garcon were unstoppable. Along with this offensive domination, the Colts small but speedy defense was starting to step up. Although the Colts defense was playing very impressive, they did get a little help. Shonn Greene, the Jets running back and playoff hero thus far, went down with a rib injury on the opening drive of the second half. Thomas Jones than came in, who hadn't been getting it done in the playoffs and continued not to in Lucas Oil Stadium. This virtually let the Colts play one dimensional, only looking for the pass. When teams play Peyton Manning, the objective is to play mistake free football and keep him off the field. Once the jets could not keep him off (the whole second half), it was over. Manning hit Garcon on a 4 yard toss up early in the 2nd half and Dallas Clark on a 12 yard slant later in the game. That touchdown to Clark was only his 4th catch of the afternoon, give a lot of credit there to Kerry Rhodes who was manned on him most of the game. With the Colts up late 30-17, and the Jets had a desperation drive moving, Sanchez's pass hit off of David Clowney's hands and into a Colts defenders chest, ending any chance of a green and white comeback. It was very unfortunate, but the Colts were the better team that day and the Jets did not have enough depth to get to their first superbowl since 1969. The post game was very sad, as the big talker Ryan had to look like a fool for his comments on going to the super bowl. Yes it was a shame they had to lose, but if you think hard about this they were not supposed to even be a playoff team. With 3 rookies in 3 of the main positions, a team usually gets between 0-7 wins at best. To go to the AFC Championship with this young and inexperienced of a team had to be a huge bonus. This game should of also been a message to the Jets and their fans that they are going to be good for a very, very long time.

After effects: After being at the game and going crazy when Edwards hauled in the long touchdown, it is painful to look back at the superbowl won by the Saints. I say to myself, "We would have gave these guys a better game", and "If only Peyton could have had an off day against us." I also think back to when the Jets played the Saints earlier in the year. The defense played flawless, holding Brees to under 200 yards. The game was lost by the quarterback play of Mark Sanchez who turned the ball over 4 times. It is just so ironic that Sanchez was playing his best ball of the season when it finally mattered, and they were just outplayed and outlasted by the Colts. Back to the AFC Championship, the atmosphere was tremendous. Once again, the Jets proved to have one of the most loyal fan bases in the NFL, as the stadium was packed with green and white. In fact my section had more Jets fans than Colts fans. What I took from this experience and game is that it was great to see a young team perform on the big stage and they did it particularly well. I also have to hope to myself that this is not one of those "lucky" teams or "the made it far but will get 4 wins next year teams". I really don't think either of those things are true, but I just have to think about them. Another big factor from this game was the new NFL rules. The last 8 teams did not get to sign free agents unless they release one of their own. This is very unfortunate and unlucky because the first time in 12 years the Jets make it this far, something bad comes of it. I honestly do not think this will affect this squad full with talent. With Rex here, I cannot see the Jets losing. The mentality he brings to the table is priceless. Lets be real here, would the Jets have made it this far without him guaranteeing wins and talking smack? I sure do not think so. This coach is something special, and it's very rare to have virtually all the players trust their coach 150%. None the less, a tough loss for Gang Green, but the grass is greener on the other side.

Welcome to a New World Jets Fans!

Welcome to a New World for Jets Fans.
